Pop your way to popularity
Ever since Dale Carnegie’s iconic self-help guide on how to win friends and influence people, we’ve been told ways to improve first impressions.
Because first impressions last, right?
Well, roll over in your grave, Mr Carnegie.
The answer to being more popular may be more simple than memorising stranger’s names or birthdays.
The solution to making positive first impressions is about what you put in your mouth.
Cast your casting couch jokes aside. I don’t mean that.
I mean this: chewing gum improves people’s first impressions of you.
According to a gum company, anyway.
This campaign by advertising company Saatchi and Saatchi, is drawn from an art installation called “Almost Identical”, shown in the Museum of Contemporary Art in Buenos Aires. The installation contains five sets of identical twins.
Exactly the same in looks and actions.
Except one of the twins chews gum.
The results of the first impressions experiment will astound you.
Go get your gum on.
And make more friends today.
